Namaste pizza crust mix

Since the diagnosis of my Celiacs disease at the end of September 2012, I have had to keep myself away from pizza which has flour & gluten in it. Watching my family & friends eat pizza and not being able to consume it myself was just breaking my heart. I decided I was going to make my own pizza. While at the grocery store once again, we found this pizza crust mix and decided to try it out. Once we were at home and ready to make the pizza, my husband read the directions and did exactly what the mix required. He had to mix everything, put it on the pan and then cook it before we could add anything to it. Once it was done cooking, the crust was similar to a very large chip (hard and crispy) even though the oven was set right and we didn't over cook it.  The way it turned out had me thinking this pizza crust could be a giant frisbee. The crust alone even though it was seasoned, was very plain and unexciting in taste. After we took it out and it cooled for a little bit, I was able to add the sauce and toppings. Once the pizza was done and we could take it out, it was time for me to cut this pizza. When I went to cut it, it made horrible cracking noises similar to crunching up chips in a bag.  I am pretty positive that I will not be buying this pizza crust again, but that is just me.

I give this product 2 out of 5 stars

Two Foodie's gluten free pizza dough

I won a giveaway over at Gluten Free Frenzy and received this in the mail along with a pizza peel & a pizza stone.

I bought some gluten free toppings from the grocery store and proceeded to make the dough.
The first thing I noticed that they recommend, is that you have a metal mixer and paddle to make this dough, all of which I didn't have.

I decided that since I didn't have it, I would try it with a regular hand mixer, THAT WASN'T THE GREATEST IDEA. The dough just stuck on the mixer tools and I had to use a wooden spoon to keep dropping it back into my plastic mixing bowl. I didn't have to mix it very long though because it mixed up pretty fast.

I then noticed that they use corn meal to put on the table or area in which you will be rolling the dough on and to place on the pizza stone. Unfortunately, I did not have corn meal either, so I just used regular ALL PURPOSE GLUTEN FREE flour. (Which didn't really work very well either)

I could roll the dough easily into a ball and it was also very easy to roll out.

I then made the mistake of just making the pizza on top of the flour on the counter and then realized that it would be really hard to get the pizza peel under it. BIG SURPRISE (Sarcasm) .....I was right, It was extremely hard to pick it up and I actually ended up rippling the dough a bit. WHOOPS!

With a little help from my father getting the peel under there and put on the stone, I was able to bake it.

I haven't made very many home made pizzas before, so this is not Two Foodies fault... LOL

After it was done baking, I was left with a pizza that looked similar to a fire grilled pizza.

It really had a strong taste of dough even though it was thoroughly baked which was  pleasing to the pallet never the less.

The crust was nice and crunchy, similar to that of a gluten pizza crust.

If you are new to baking pizza's from scratch, I would avoid this until you have mastered it for a while.
However, if you have had plenty of practice, this is a great gluten free pizza dough to try. lol

Overall, I give this dough a 4 out of 5 rating

Annie's cream deluxe mac n' cheese

I wanted to try this mac n' cheese out just for the fun of it, but it turned out to be the most vile stuff, I had ever put in my mouth. This mac n' cheese doesn't require butter, salt or milk because it comes with it's own soft cheese packet. After I was done cooking the noodles, I put the cheese in, mixed it and then dished it up. The noodles had a more gritty texture and definitely had a strong taste of rice and the cheese tasted really, really bitter. I tried adding some chili powder and a little sour cream, to try and tame the taste down but it just made it worse, I could not get that taste out of my mouth.  I do not recommend this mac n' cheese to anyone, not even my enemy.  You'd be better off buying noodles separately and making your own cheese to add to it.

I give this mac n cheese a 1 out of 5 score.

Progresso's creamy mushroom soup

Thanks to my Mom for providing this soup for me when I visited my Mom & Dad's place a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure how this soup would taste because I was just beginning to transition over to gluten free and had the mentality that everything gluten free was disgusting, but fortunately for me, I found Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup to be very tasty. Now if you are used to the original creamy mushroom, you will most likely notice the difference right away. The gluten free version of creamy mushroom is more on the tame side for taste, where as the original gluten creamy mushroom soup is more rich in taste.

The first time I tried this soup, it was just creamy and delicious but I decided for my second try, I would add the soup to rice and chicken breasts cut up. The dish turned out fabulous but I had to do add some onions and a few more seasonings to get it to taste just right.

This is a great soup for a base, but you might want to add a few more seasons when making a bigger dish.

I give this soup a 3 out of 5 score.

Progresso's chicken and cheese enchilada soup

Unfortunately, a lot of  canned soups & chili's have gluten. Fortunately for us, Progresso makes a few Gluten Free soups that are pretty tasty. My ultimate favorite would have to be the Chicken, Cheese Enchilada flavor. This soup is so creamy and cheesy, and tastes similar to queso cheese dip that you can get in the stores. The chicken is always so tender and the red and green peppers just tie all the flavors together and make this soup a MUST GET.

Speaking of this soup, I think I am going to go make some.

I give this soup 5 out of 5 stars.

Costco's brand Kirkland turkey breast

For all of you who have a card at Coscto, Make sure and pick this delicious turkey breast up the next time you go shopping there. This turkey is oven browned,  fully cooked, 100% fat free, has no preservatives & the best part IT'S GLUTEN FREE. My husband and I purchased this a few times in the past but didn't continue to purchase it because it was a little bit on the spendy side and since we were buying sliced turkey from Costco already, we didn't feel the need to buy this, but since it is Gluten free, we decided to get it again.

You know how some turkeys are dry and almost tasteless, well, this turkey is full of moisture and so juicy, it makes you crave more and more. This turkey stays in the fridge without spoiling for a pretty long time and freezes well.

This turkey is delicious to eat plain, as a meat source in a meal or sliced up in a sandwich.

I give this turkey a 5 out of 5 star.

Try it out and let me know what you think by commenting below.

Applegate Naturals gluten free chicken nuggets

I was so excited to see this in the frozen section of my grocery store that I decided to purchase it.
I have been craving chicken nuggets ever since I found out that I couldn't eat gluten anymore and had to fix chicken nuggets several times for my kid's meals.

When you look at the chicken nuggets on this box, your first thought is, "Oh, they look so crispy and delicious", well, unfortunately they aren't 100% as amazing as the photo portrays.

Before I get into details about these chicken nuggets, I first want to mention that the bag inside is very small and they only give you like 16-18 chicken nuggets, if you plan on getting it for a family dinner and have 5 people in your family like I do, I would definitely buy 3 boxes or more.

After taking out the chicken nuggets, I was eager to take that first bite but that first bite wasn't the greatest. The crust and breading is very crispy and tastes similar to that of KFC's coating on their chicken but the inside was what surprised me. The chicken inside was pureed and had a rather disturbing texture. The nuggets itself were eatable but awkward because when you bite into these nuggets it's like a crispy pureed sensation in your mouth.  The taste and awkwardness of these chicken nuggets are 10 times worse when they start to get a little colder while sitting on your plate.

I am pretty positive that I will not be purchasing these nuggets again, but that is just me.

I give these nuggets a 2 out of 5 score.
(The two is only there because of it's fantastic breading)

Have you had these nuggets before? Do you find them disturbing or delicious, comment below and share your experience.

Udi's gluten free three cheese pizza

I once again added the Costco cheese to this pizza because there was a very small amount of cheese on here. I put it in the oven for 12 minuets and after I took it out, it was so crispy and looked delicious. I am happy to say that this pizza is pretty good. It doesn't have as much flavor as the Margarita does and the crust tastes a little plain but over all, this pizza is worth getting again.

With tax these pizzas cost me a total of $7.00 each.

I think I will be trying my hand at making my own pizza crust and making my own pizzas at home because this can become pretty expensive. If you are used to the orginial gluten filled frozen pizzas from the store, you will be able to tell the difference when buying this pizza, it's just more plain but still very good.

I give this pizza a score of 4 out of 5.

Gluten free bisquick

My Mother bought some of this to make biscuits similar to that of Red Lobster's for Thanksgiving. After making them, she added some garlic and butter to the top. The first time I tried her biscuits, I could hardly tell the difference, however it was a little bit more thick and pasty then Red Lobsters. No matter what, the biscuits turned out fantastic and the best part of it was the fact that I COULD EAT IT. :)

I give Bisquick a 4 out of 5 score
I give my Mom's Biscuits a 4 out of 5 score as well.

Trader Joe's battered Hailbut

Here is another product that my sweet husband purchased for me from Trader Joe's.
I haven't personally had battered fish in a VERY LONG TIME, so you can imagine the excitement inside of me when I saw he had bought this.

When I pulled the bag out of the box, I was disappointed at how many you get in there. I counted exactly 8 of these slightly small battered halibut, which to me is a big bummer but not a huge surprise since most gluten free products are super expensive for just a SMALL AMOUNT.

After baking it, I was very impressed by the view of it's CRISPY OUTSIDE. It wasn't flaky, gooey or crumbly, but it stayed together perfectly, which to me is a sign of a very good batter.

After taking one bite of the battered halibut, I was in heaven. The coating is for sure very crispy and it has a very mild and pleasing buttery taste. The halibut inside is very mild in fish taste but just the right amount at the same time.

I think the only issue I had with this product is that they didn't give you enough of them in the box.
If my husband happens to go to Trader Joe's again in the near future (which I hope he does), I will be requesting that he pick up at least 4 of these. If you are reading these posts hun, this is a BIG HINT!

*If you are making these for a family larger then 4, I would recommend you purchase more then one box.*

I give this product a 5 out of 5 star rating because it's THAT AMAZING!!

Let's put it this way, if I were to close my eyes and eat Battered Halibut with Gluten Batter & this Trader Joe's Battered Halibut (gluten free), I CAN HONESTLY SAY, I WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT WHICH IS THE GLUTEN ONE AND WHICH IS THE GLUTEN FREE ONE.

Trader Joe's three cheese gluten free pizza

This is yet another one of the things my husband so kindly brought home for me that one night from TRADER JOE'S. I love my pizza, so I was very pleased that he brought this product home for me to try.

Last night I wasn't sure what to make for myself for supper, so it dawned on me that I had this pizza just waiting for me in the freezer.
After digging it out and looking at the back for the instructions, that was when I realized that this pizza requires a partial 20 minuet thaw before you can even put it in the oven.
That right there was a little discouraging but I still had some hope left in me that this will turn out super amazing.

After about 15 minuets of baking time, It was time to take it out and try a piece.
The first thing I noticed was that it has a very nice thin and crispy crust which got me a little excited, specially because I absolutely LOVE thin crust pizza.

The next thing I noticed after taking the first bite was that it was so watery. The tomatoes on here hold in A LOT of moisture, so when the pizza is baked, you are left with a very watered down pizza.
The crust was very heavy on the side of ROSEMARY and it had a very Italian taste which was really, really, really over powering.

The sauce on the pizza appeared to be like splatters of tomato paste with a lot of open  spaces where there was no sauce and it tasted like they used a tomato paste right out of the can, it has a tin taste to it. This sauce also has NO SEASONINGS and I mean not even pepper, which is very disturbing in my opinion.

The last thing I noticed about this pizza was it's cheese, this right here tells you a lot about the pizza if the cheese is the last thing I notice. The tomatoes and canned tasting unseasoned sauce overpowers so much that the cheese almost gets drowned out. I could taste a tiny amount of cheese but to me it sure didn't taste like (3 cheeses) instead, it tasted like a very mild mozzarella.

I was not by any means impressed with this pizza and it doesn't even come close to the 3 BAKERS pizza I've had before, which tastes thoroughly amazing.

If you are fine with a watery, Rosemary crust, slightly cheesy & tomato paste pizza, then this is a perfect pizza for you. Otherwise, I would avoid this at all costs.

I give this pizza a 1 out of 5 star rating.

Gluten free rice pasta and cheddar cheese mix

Look what Walmart now carries... that's right, they now carry gluten free macaroni and cheese.
I tried their GREAT VALUE gluten free rice pasta and cheddar cheese mix and I can say that by far this is the closest I've come to having real (gluten) macaroni and cheese only GLUTEN FREE.

The noodles itself had their usual slight rough taste that rice can make, but overall, it tasted a lot like your regular elbow noodles. The cheese was creamy and not at all bitter like some of those gluten free macaroni mixes other brands provide.

The only down side would be that it really only made 1 portion, so if you were planning on feeding a family, I would buy several of these boxes.

I can say with full confidence, that I will be purchasing more of this delicious gluten free rice pasta and cheddar cheese mix in the near future.

CRAVING MACARONI AND CHEESE THAT TASTES A LOT LIKE KRAFT BRAND, LOOK NO FURTHER. TRY THESE OUT AT YOUR NEAREST WALMART.

I give this product a 5 out of 5 star rating.

LiveGfree gluten free cheese pizza

My hubby went to ALDI's and bought me a bunch of gluten free products to try out, one of these was their LIVEGFREE gluten free cheese pizza.
The crust was the perfect thickness, not to thick and not to thin.
It came out of the oven looking super delicious and I couldn't wait to dive in & give it a try.
First of all I wanted to mention that they put plenty of cheese on these pizza's. You know how it is when you get a gluten free pizza, they are usually sparse with everything- not with this pizza.
The cheese, sauce & space on this pizza was on the milder side so if you are looking for more of a spicer
pizza this wont hit the spot. The crust tastes a bit on the doughy side but only in taste, it is also a bit salty.

This pizza reminds me of the State Fair or County Fair pizzas they always have available. It's that familiar taste I missed so much. It brought back so many fond memories. My mother had a booth for several years at a fair near our hometown growing up and every summer we'd go spend time there. This pizza is remarkable in how it tastes so much like the fair pizzas. If you know what I am talking about and miss that taste too, you have to stop by ALDI's and pick up some today.

Overall, I give this pizza a 5 out of 5 star rating because It's tasty!!

>This pizza, The gluten free pizza from Costco & Three Bakers are your best options for gluten free pizza.<

The Three Bakers pizza

My husband brought me home the Three Bakers Sweet Italian Sausage one night for supper.
I was extremely excited to try this pizza out for the first time because I was ready for a change.
When it came out of the oven it looked a lot like a gluten pizza and smelled divine.

The crust was crispy and very similar to regular pizza crust with only a slight powdery/dry taste.

The cheese and the sausage tasted amazing and I can say with full confidence that this is the closest I've come to a gluten free pizza tasting like a gluten pizza.

My husband purchased this from a RAINBOW FOODS
but you can purchase it other locations or on their website here:

The Three Bakers also supply different products other then pizzas, they have
  • Breads
  • Stuffing mixes
  • Rolls
  • Pizza

These pizza's are seriously amazing and worth trying, I know you wont regret it.

I give this pizza a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Have you ate the Three Bakers pizza's before, comment and let me know what you think of them, I'd love to hear from you.

Udi's margherita pizza

Saw this pizza in the grocery store and had to try it out. I put it on a pan added Kirkland Brand Cheese to it

Because there really wasn't that much cheese on there and put it into the oven. Waited 12 minuets just like the directions say and the center of the pizza was not done but everything else around it was getting pretty crispy. I turned down the oven from 425 to 200 and cut the pizza in half, once I put the pizza back into the oven, it then cooked the center within about 5 minuets.

This pizza tastes a lot like your small cheaper versions of pizza that you can get at the grocery store but it has a very tomato based taste. The cheese on there isn't to overpowering so if I didn't add the Costco cheese, you might not be able to taste it at all.

Overall, I will probably buy this pizza again only this time I will cook it for about 17 to 18 minuets.

I give this pizza a 4 out of 5 score.

Feel Good Food chicken & vegetable egg rolls

I actually won several of these Feel Good Foods egg rolls and dumplings from a gluten free giveaway page. *See my G.F. links for the link to this giveaway page*  I was so beyond excited to try these out because at this point, I hadn't been able to eat egg rolls for 17 months.

I can safely say truthfully 100%,  that it tastes like the real deal.
The chicken and vegetables in these rolls are so yummy and the coating is very crispy.

If you are craving egg rolls, look no further!

THIS IS A MUST TRY!

Udi's Chicken Burritos

We are BIG Costco shoppers, almost have to be with a family of 6 and I'm excited to announce that Costco has become very gluten free friendly. They have gluten free breakfast sausage, gluten free chicken and almond cups, they have Udi's G.F. bread and now they also have UDI'S GLUTEN FREE CHICKEN BURRITOS.

These come frozen, individual wrapped and in a pack of 8 burritos.
The directions say you have to wrap a wet paper towel around the burrito and cook it in the microwave for 1:45 minuets.  I find that with my microwave it's realistically 2:00 minuets.

The outside tortilla is on the doughy side but I think it would crisp up nicely if ever cooked in a frying pan.
There is a tiny amount of spice to this and ( kind of) reminds me of those MINI CHIMIS you can get from the restaurant PERKINS.

They really don't have enough chicken in here, it's mostly filled with beans, corn and rice.
The rice is on the sticky/pasty side but it still tastes good.
Sometimes you can taste some sort of cream sauce in there which is pretty tasty.

My personal recommendation is adding a little ranch dipping sauce on the side of your plate to dip. It cuts down on the slight spice and gives it extra flavor.

These burritos are a LIFE SAVER for me when I make a meal for my family and it turns out it wasn't gluten free after all or somehow it gets cross contaminated and I am left with nothing to eat.
All I have to do is go over to the freezer, pull one of these out, wrap it, microwave it and BOOM, INSTANT LUNCH OR SUPPER that wont make me sick!.

FOR ALL OF YOU ON THE GO- This is a perfect product for you.

I will add a note to this product review once I try frying it in a pan or bake it in the oven.

Do I like it and do I recommend it?, well, let's just say I've purchased this box of burritos twice now and I plan to purchase it A LOT MORE in the near future.

*NOTE, DO NOT MICROWAVE THIS BURRITO FOR LONGER THEN 2 MINUETS IN HOPES THAT THE PASTE IN THE MIDDLE WILL GO AWAY, IT ONLY HARDENS UP & BECOMES UNEATABLE.*

I give this product a 5 out of 5 star rating.

HAVE YOU TRIED THESE BURRITOS BEFORE, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT?.
SHARE WITH US BY COMMENTING BELOW.

*UPDATE AS OF 10/14/14, I tried putting this burrito in the oven in hopes that it would cook better and not be as pasty in the middle. The outside seemed to crisp up better but there was still a small portion inside of the burrito where it was pasty. I think because of the rice and the way the tortilla is made, cooking it in the oven and microwave will always result in a little paste taste inside.
I have yet to fry it in a pan, will let you know when I get around to doing it, how it turned out.

Livegfree Lasagna

I haven't had lasagna in a very, very long time and was SUPER EXCITED to try this out.
I followed the directions on the side of the box on how to cook it.
Due to the fact that it is a microwave meal, I was kind of setting myself up for possible disappointment.

I decided that cooking it in the oven would probably be the best option for me.
It told me that I needed to place it on a pan but I really didn't want to dirty a pan, so I thought It would
be fine to just place it on the shelf in the oven.

I timed it correctly and by the time it was done, I noticed it was really not cooking well.
I then broke down and put a pan underneath it like they suggested (Yeah, that's me for you, trying to conserve dishes. Hey, less dishes to wash I say!!:) )

But after leaving it in for a little longer it was finally done. Now this lasagna was like 1 piece or 1 serving size, so of course I had to include a little something else on the side to complete my meal.

The sauce tasted like can sauce, it was watery & tasted like they drenched it with brown sugar to flavor it.
The brown sugar taste was pleasing but the can sauce taste was just nasty.

The noodles were very gooey and not as rubbery as gluten lasagna noodles.
The cheese they included on the top was very limited but the cheese inside was amazing.
It had a consistency of cottage cheese but a taste like mozzarella. So yummy.

Overall for a lasagna microwave meal, it's okay. I don't know if it will make it to my favorite list but
it will do in a pinch.

I give this product a 2 out of 5 star rating.

Sabatasso's Gluten Free Pizza

Costco started selling this gluten free pizza and I couldn't wait to try it.
If you were blind folded, I can tell you with full confidence, that you wouldn't be able to tell if this is a gluten free pizza or not.

It is so beyond cheesy & the sauce tastes almost home made (& not from a can).
I lost count on how many times I've asked my hubby to purchase this for me.
This pizza and the THREE BAKERS sausage pizza has to be my favorite because it is seriously as close as you can come to regular pizza.

If you are craving some pizza tonight, pick up some Sabatasso's Gluten Free Pizza.
You WILL NOT be disappointed. In fact, you just might want to stock up your freezer with these pizzas because, It's that good!

Congratulations to Sabatasso's for making such a wonderful & delicious pizza!

I give this pizza a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Jennie-O Turkey & Gravy Meal

While my mother and Father were living at our house temporarily, my mom suggested we cook this for supper. My first thought was that it was most likely NOT gluten free but to my surprise it WAS INDEED GLUTEN FREE. In fact, they even said it under the label.

Usually when you see gravy, you think they most likely used wheat for the thickener, apparently not with Jennie-O's Turkey & Gravy.

I was thrilled and couldn't wait to have some.
The meat was moist and fell apart in your mouth. The gravy was a bit salty but had a good creamy consistency. I love how this Turkey & Gravy comes in it's own roasting pan, so you don't really need to
worry about dirtying up to many dishes. *That is something I appreciate when I have a family of 6*.
Overall, I was pretty impressed that this was gluten free and tasted really good.

I give this product a 4 out of 5 star rating.

LiveGfree Gluten Free Pepperoni Pizza

Now this pizza is pretty good, unfortunately it doesn't come anywhere close to the THREE BAKERS & SABATASSO'S but it comes in at a close third in ranking.

This pizza reminded me of a pizza you'd typically get at a fair or festival.
If you are familiar with what I'm talking about, you know that, these pizza's tend to have their own very unique kind of taste. The crust is pretty much like every other gluten free crust but they tend to give you more pepperoni and cheese then the Udi's gluten free pizza does.

Overall, this pizza is actually not bad. If you're anywhere near an ALDI'S store, make sure and pick up one or two of these to try for yourself.

I give this product a 4 out of 5 star rating.
